SYNOPSIS
HistoryThe College of Creative Design was established in 2007. Currently it has 5 departments, a graduate institute and a PhD program. It encompasses the five major domains of digital, graphic, interior, and fashion design. It includes the Department of Media and Design, established in the 2001 academic year, the Masters program in Digital Media Design, established in the 2004 academic year, the PhD program in Digital Media Design established in the 2010 academic year, the Departments of Visual Communication Design and Creative Product Design, established in the 2007 academic year, and the continuing education program and Department of Fashion Design, established in the 2010 academic year. In the future the College will establish graduate programs in visual communication design and in fashion design, and a creative design PhD.
Objectives
To fully use creative design to promote industrial upgrading and improvement of the aesthetic quality of the economy and national life.

To keep pace with the national development of cultural and creative industries, uphold the school mission of "health, caring, innovation, and excellence", to cultivate humanities and arts training, innovation and design abilities, combine theory and practice, to create design professionals with local and international cross-cultural vision.

International Design and Invention Competitions
99 Red Dot Awards (Germany), 10 iF Design Awards, 2 G-Mark Design Awards (Japan), 10 Art Directors Guild of New York (ADC) Awards, etc. All these winning entries received grants from the Ministry of Education.
The official website of the 2012 Hanover iF Design Award (iF Award) featured images of winning entries from Asian universities as the sole representative in its promotional materials.
Over the past 10 years, Asian University students have achieved remarkable success in international design and invention competitions. In international design competitions, they have won 85 Red Dot Awards and 8 iF Awards; ranking 43rd globally in the iF Award category and 12th in the Red Dot Award category in the Asia-Pacific region. They have also won 35 international design awards from the US, UK, Japan, France, Belgium, and other countries.
Asia University provides comprehensive support and scholarships to its students, enabling them to participate in international invention competitions in Switzerland, France, Belgium, Malaysia, South Korea, and other countries. These students have won a total of 407 medals, including 117 gold, 144 silver, 100 bronze, 41 special awards, 1 grand prize, 1 second-highest grand prize, and 3 international top awards.
Asia University also provides comprehensive support and scholarships to its students participating in international design and invention competitions, winning prestigious international design awards such as the German Red Dot, iF, Japanese G-Mark, and American New York ADC, as well as international invention medals from France, South Korea, and Switzerland. Over the past eight years, these students have won a total of 535 international medals.
Entrepreneurship Support
NT$50 Million Entrepreneurship Fund
A NT$50 million entrepreneurship fund assists aspiring students and alumni in starting their own businesses. To cultivate students' entrepreneurial abilities in managing core technologies and commercializing services, the university encourages students to form collaborative teams. Through competitions, students understand the practical challenges they may encounter in starting a business, stimulating innovative action and entrepreneurial spirit. They learn to integrate and share resources, and develop marketable operational plans and prototypes for products and services. Meanwhile, this competition and lecture event allowed participants to exchange ideas and learn from each other, thereby enhancing their chances of entrepreneurial success and competitiveness.
"Xiao Bao Cultural and Creative" received NT$1.2 million in entrepreneurial grants from the Executive Yuan and NT$850,000 in U-START entrepreneurial competition grants. They also won first place in the Yahoo! Auction Newcomer King national poll. Chen Yongjin, Deputy Director of the Industry-Academia Collaboration Office at Asia University, said that the "Xiao Bao Cultural and Creative" entrepreneurial team uses a "home storage creative product online sales platform" as its product and service, hoping to create creative design spaces for home storage with simplicity, style, and affordability.
The university boasts the nation's first doctoral program in Digital Media Design.
Both the Department of Digital Media and the Department of Product Design offer master's programs, while the Department of Digital Media also offers a doctoral program, divided into "Digital Media Group" and "Creative Design Group." The "Creative Design Group" offers three majors: fashion, product design, and visual communication, providing students with a continuous path to higher education and attracting excellent faculty to enhance academic standards.
